Standing over 5 meters tall, the Colossus of Barletta (known locally as "Eraclio") is the largest surviving Roman bronze statue. It is believed to depict Emperor Valentinian I or III. It remains unknown what brought it to the shores of Barletta in or shortly before 1309—the year from which its presence in the city is historically documented.
