History and Meaning

The Church of San Giacomo Maggiore built towards the end of the 11th century, is one of the oldest and most historically rich places of worship in Barletta. Established along the historic pilgrimage routes to the Holy Land, the church combines its original Romanesque structure with subsequent architectural transformations. Inside, it houses valuable works of sacred art and bears witness to centuries of local devotion.
