The Margherita di Savoia Salt Pans, in Puglia, are the largest salt pans in Europe and among the most important in the world. Located along the Adriatic coast, they extend for approximately 20 kilometres and cover an area of 4,500 hectares. Salt is produced through the natural evaporation of seawater, driven by the sun and wind within a vast system of evaporation ponds, creating the characteristic “salt mountains.”
